FOAM-N-SHINE is a ‘special purpose’ high foaming detergent that has been developed for ‘high end’ vehicle cleaning such as Tunnel and Self Serve Car Washes. The FOAM-N-SHINE
formula incorporates special rinse aids and ‘bond breaking’ surfactants geared toward ‘one-pass’ cleaning and include an over abundance of Gloss Enhancers. These Gloss
Enhancers are what has made the EnviroSpec formulas so popular throughout the
transportation industry for the past 30 years. This product can be used as a
single step cleaner or step #2 in a two step cleaning process which includes an
acid product as step #1. For the absolute very best results downstream inject
using the Allison Super Suds Sucker
Recommended surfaces: To be cleaned with FOAM-N-SHINE: Primary - Car and Truck Wash but can also be
used on the following - Vinyl Siding, Painted Wood , Aluminum Siding, Steel
Siding, Stucco, Stainless Steel, Chrome, Bare Metal, most Plastics (test), most
awnings (test).
Related Chemical Products: For faster rinsing add one gallon of Speed-X 777
after mixing a drum pack of Foam N Shine. Offer customers the add-on service of protecting their vehicles after washing by
applying Wax N Shine. When using Pro Blend in an application that requires a lot dwell time consider
adding Laurox Lo foam enhancer to make the product foam even more to increase
the dwell time on the surface. This is extremely helpful for heavy grease removal (Use with foamer p/n 969410).
Mixing Instructions: Read and understand these instructions before starting to
mix this product. Use warm water (never hot - not to exceed 120 degrees F).
Warm water helps powders go into solution more easily. Hot water, on the other
hand, will blow apart many of the surfactants utilized in the formulary
process. It is possible to use cold water but additional manual agitation may
be required. Use a clean poly drum and fill it approximately 30% full with warm
water. Place the nozzle of a high-pressure washer close to the bottom of the
drum and continue filling while adding the liquid product. WASH AND DISCARD
LIQUID CONTAINERS BEFORE DISPOSING. At 40% full, start adding the powder. When
the drum is 90% full all the powder should be in solution. Continue filling
until the drum is full. The result is 55 gallons of liquid concentrate that is
now ready for use.
Dilutions: The amount you dilute Foam-N-Shine depends on many factors and cannot
be covered by one statement. The following guidelines are a starting point from
which you should adjust. Chemical dilution rates need to be adjusted because of
weather conditions, cleaning difficulty, washing method used, including PSI and
whether or not you brush, and desired result. Remember that a typical
downstream injector is already diluting the product approximately 1 part
detergent to 9 parts water (10%) for most injectors or 2 parts product to 8
parts water (20%) with an Allison super suds sucker injector.
Starting Dilution: 1 part product to 100 parts water
(Salesmen will tell you very high dilution rates attempting to make you think
their product is the best. Actual washing experience is the only way to
determine what is right for you. Remember, detergent is much cheaper than
labor.)
Washing technique-Car Wash: Use your present injection and metering system. From the concentrate you have
mixed try using this product at 1/2 the strength of your present product. This
can be accomplished simply by mixing 50/50 with water. From that point - adjust
accordingly. Our customers tell us that this product is much more concentrated
than other products commonly found in the car wash industry.
Washing technique (single step): Coat the surface to be cleaned with
FOAM-N-SHINE at low pressure. High-pressure wash the surface removing the
detergent and released dirt. Never apply detergent to an area larger than you
can wash off prior to the detergent drying on the surface. Always apply
chemical from the bottom to the top and rinse from the top down.
Washing technique (two step): Apply first step (acid) product to the surface to
be cleaned. Immediately apply FOAM-N-SHINE on top of the first step product.
High-pressure wash the surface removing the detergent and released dirt. Never
apply detergent to an area larger than you can wash off prior to the detergent
drying on the surface.
Note: It is important to always rinse well and when you think you are done -
rinse again. This should be common practice with all cleaning solutions. Pay
special attention to horizontal surfaces that may trap detergent allowing it to
run down onto surfaces after you have washed them. Examples of where this
occurs would be run-off from tractor roofs and trailer tops. Try not to put
detergent in these areas, if you do be sure to get it rinsed off to leave a
streak free surface.
Make it a practice to always read and insist your employees read and understand
the MSDS that accompanies this product.
CAUTION - Avoid Alkaline Shock: Any detergent product that is applied to a hot
surface stands a chance of producing alkaline shock. The surface is hot - a
strong solution of detergent is applied - the water evaporates from the product
before you have a chance to rinse - all resulting in a dull, streaked or
tarnished surface which is often irreversible. Cool the surface down with water
first then apply the product. On real hot days turn off the burner and wash
with cold water.
